And most guys wonder why more women don't get into shooting sports... There are plenty of You Tube videos of guys getting women to shoot huge hand cannons or getting them to shoot the largest caliber rifle they have on hand and laughing when it either beams them in the head or almost dislocates their shoulder.

guys are lucky more women aren't in shooting sports because from what I have seen the guys will get their butts handed to them.

Yep, when it comes to shooting competition, I'd rather not be up against a woman.

But what IN THE HECK would be the use for a 50 cal pistol?

I am really changing my attitude towards weapons these days.

weapons=tools. Having 6 different calibers and 15 different models will not be of much use if things get hairy.

Having several nearly identical weapons, with accessories, mags, and plenty of like ammo, would certainly be far more useful.

My current plan:

Several similar pistols, with interchangable parts and mags, 9mm
Several ar variants, with interchangable parts and mags, some setup for close in, others setup for varmit.

Lots of ammo for each
Reloading gear for each.

A 50 cal gun has no pratical use what so ever........... you would have to spend thousands of dollars (literally) in ammo becoming proficient in use

A 50 cal gun just looks really cool and something that would scare the shyt of of somebody if you showed the handle stuffed in your waist band
Its a visual detterant but not something I would trust in the heat of the moment.

ok, forgive my ignorance...WTF hit him? I've watched that about 20 times and can't figure it out. Did the round ricochet almost straight back to him? Was that a chunk of whatever was downrange coming back at him?

no have to say unfortunately not. I could use a nice pair of boobs to play with but alas man boobs don't quite cut it. been there tried that.

as for women shooters, they seem particularly focused to me. perhaps I am just missing this when it comes to the male shooters and of course they are equally focused. I don't know. just seemed to be the case with the few female shooters I have seen. Our state champ is a young lady. She did my safety induction onto the range where I shoot. Extreme dead eye.

Yup ........

The round hit something down range and came right back at him what saved his life was the ear muff was able to deflect the round ......... nothing short of amazing ........ he should have been a dead man. or anybody standing behind him for that matter.

The odds of something like that happening are a quintillion to one ......But it dose happen as you can see.

Moral of story: be careful and ALWAYS ,ALWAYS, ALWAYS ware protection.

Man-O-Man that was weird
In the beginning I was just thinking.....Thats a nice place to have to shoot.... Then Bang!!!

Wow I will watch again but how far down range was he shooting? What in the world could perfectly reverse the energy right back to nearly the exact point of departure?
WOW

Funny you mention this... I have been thinking the exact same thing.
I am re-gearing after selling most of my stuff years ago after a divorce.
Now Im all settled & getting the itch so I am starting to shop.
Have my permit to acquire all done for the long guns.

Next I shop :)

But I have been thinking like you not to get too spread out this time.
AR for sure & leaning to CMMG after reading that great article.
9mm Maybe give glock a try I wish I still had my Belgiun Browning
12 gauge shotgun Mossberg or Remy
45 I have but want another but not highest priority
22 I have a S&W 422 & a rifle I gave my son.

Thats about it. Of course new reloading stuff too :s9:

Somebody posted this in the Youtube Comments .........seems to make sense.

This is how it works... pay attention:

Hard material BEATS soft material
HardER material BEATS hard material
Hard material TIES hard material!!!!!!!

Lead VS lead (or the equivalent - ie a bunch of steel plates) will send the bullet right back at you!!

JJ_ 11-17-2008 09:14 AM

Re: Desert Eagle

Steel plates are supposed to "give" - Right? Rotate or swing... They are supposed to DO something to redirect the energy. If they are static, the energy remains in the projectile...

The comment that TA points out makes sense.

Not meaning to add humor to what is a dire chance event but this other post on youtube had me cracking up:
"ammunition may be rising up against us. "

I think paper serves its purpose well for target shooting..

Apparently not all that rare! I wonder how many people get killed every year like that. Projectile still has more than enough energy to kill.

Re: Desert Eagle

Me and a friend were firing a 7.62X39 AK47 at a local range. We'd probably run through over a thousand rounds that day. I mean we were really plugging away and letting other people give it a try and all. Well, right before we leave he deiced to run through one more 30rd mag. The 1st round hit something in the woods and came back. We bot heard it whiz by our heads and hit the steel trash can about 20 feet behind us. We went over to the trash can to see if maybe the round had penetrated the trash can. It was impossible to tell because too many idiots alone at this range (TN Wildlife range, just put $2 in the box honor style and shoot all day) think it fun to shoot the trash can and destroy public property.

Anyway, I digress, while looking around the trash can I notice blood on my friend's shirt around his shoulder and said something about it. He started to check himself and sure enough his ear was bleeding because it was missing a piece about the size of pea at the top. It was a very fresh wound and we could only surmise that the round had grazed his ear on it's way past both of our heads.

Needless to say, we did not fire the remaining 29 rounds and quietly packed up and went home.

I have a friend who hunts elk with a 50 cal pistol (S&W revolver).
Yes, ELK.
He says it beats the pants off a rifle in the brush. He can holster the gun for traveling in the woods. He doesn't get anywhere near as fatigued.
He has a nice scope on it and says he can put an elk down from 50 yards with one round.
The proof was in the jerky.

Re: Desert Eagle

2 questions on that vid:
1) Was the dude hammering the trigger to get that fire rate or was the pistol modified to auto?
2) What kind of shot groupings did he get firing 8rds/sec and holding the gun at his solar plexus? My guess is NONE.
